On October 7, 2024, the Special Rapporteur of Human Rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Francesca Albanese published a report Titled The Situation of Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories Occupied since 1967: Genocide as Colonial Erasure

Amnesty International Released a Report on December 5, 2024, Accusing Israel of Committing Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza

The Amnesty report accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza, citing over 42,000 deaths, including 13,300 children, and widespread destruction. The report is based on Israel’s indiscriminate airstrikes and mass killing of civilians. This conclusion also took into consideration the treatment of Palestinians as ‘disposable’ reflecting genocidal intent. This includes the depopulation of North North Gaza through a months-long siege within the overall existing siege of the Strip. The blanket siege on North Gaza has prevented all delivery of humanitarian aid. And it is accompanied by mass bombing, drone strikes, and mass arrests. The Amnesty report echoed other similar reports by the UN Special Rapporteurs, pointing to the destruction of all means of life and civilian infrastructures, and the sectionalization of the Gaza Strip into military zones.

“Amnesty International’s report demonstrates that Israel has carried out acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention, with the specific intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza. These acts include killings, causing serious bodily or mental harm and deliberately inflicting on Palestinians in Gaza conditions of life calculated to bring about their physical destruction. Month after month, Israel has treated Palestinians in Gaza as a subhuman group unworthy of human rights and dignity, demonstrating its intent to physically destroy them,” said Agnès Callamard, Secretary General of Amnesty International. ”
